Episode 129: Lorelei Shannon / The Southern Gothic
On this episode of The Bonus Material Podcast, Thom Carnell and Langley J West are joined by author / game designer, Lorelei Shannon (as well as her daughter, Neon Minerva!) for a discussion of The Southern Gothic. Wikipedia defines "Southern Gothic" as "a sub-genre of Gothic fiction / film that takes place in the American South. Common themes in Southern Gothic literature include deeply flawed, disturbing or eccentric characters who may or may not dabble in hoodoo, ambivalent gender roles, decayed or derelict settings, grotesque situations, and other sinister events relating to or stemming from poverty, alienation, crime, or violence." We'll also talk a bit of News, review a few trailers, and make some recommendations. So, grab yourself a mint julep or some sweet tea and join us for Southern Gothic, y'all.
